Atlas Pioneer disc golf bag

There are a lot of great disc golf bags on the market to suit a variety of needs, and it's pretty difficult these days to try to narrow the options and find what suits you the best. But for those that are a little more budget focused, it's genuinely hard to beat the value of the Atlas Pioneer bag (currently only 88$ USD), or any Atlas product for that matter.

The Pioneer bag is a tournament capacity disc golf backpack, meaning it can comfortably hold from 20-25 discs in the main compartment and at least 3 more in the top putter pocket. one of the main highlights of the Pioneer bag when compared to other bags of this capacity is the ease of which you can place and remove disc from the bag. This is made most evident when trying to remove the first or last disc in the bag, there isn't any material that catches or makes it difficult at all. The ease of access also carries up to the putter pocket. Its opening is much wider than other bags tested and makes it so the putter never catches the sides of the pocket, even with 3 or more discs up there.

The Pioneer bag also has plenty of storage, with 2 tall zippered pockets on each side with small pockets sewn into the outside of them. There's also 2 large elasticated bottle pockets, and a full width zippered storage pocket just above the velcro strip (which is nearly a must these days on any disc golf bag with endless options for fun patches). While the top pocket may not be the deepest pocket, it does make for a perfect slop to stash your phone or or dry bag or even a scorecard during tournament rounds.

The Pioneer bag also has a D-ring on each shoulder strap, and one at the top on each side, which are the perfect place to attach your towels to or even the Atlas Grip Pouch (a great place to store dry bags or rangefinders!). This newest version also has a velcro strap on one side above the bottle pocket, which can be used to secure a stool or umbrella. There are also 2 long, but low profile feet on the underside of the bag to keep the bag out of mud and water on those wetter rounds.

By far our favorite feature of this bag, and why we personally use it for tournament rounds, it just how light weight the bag is. For a bag that holds this many discs, the bag itself is incredibly light. It doesn't have a ton of support on the sides or on the base, but doing away with those is what helps keep the weight down where it is. It's also quite comfortable due to it's low weight and decent padding. The only thing we disliked about this bag what the elastic at the top of the pockets. While it does mean that the pockets can hold a variety of bottle sizes, it also means that you almost always need to use both hands to put any larger bottles back in which can be a little frustrating if you just want a quick sip while walking to the next hole. It's by no means a deal breaker, and if that's the only issue we have with the bag, it goes to show how well rounded the Pioneer bag is.

At the time of writing, the Atlas Pioneer bag sells for only 88$ USD and comes in three colorways. Midnight moss (pictured above), Dune (a tan/khaki color), and our favorite, Bogey Bros (a beautiful deep/dark blue and red combo. If you're in the market for a large capacity disc golf bag that won't break the bank, then definitely check out the Atlas Pioneer bag! (Link Below)
