Prodigy A2

Another approach disc today, and this one is a favorite here at DiscGolfWeekly, it's the Prodigy A2. The A2 is in similar vein to a zone in that its a beadless low profile putter that is very well suited to forehand approaches.

It has quit an overstable approach flight, meaning that it it will start fading pretty quickly out of the hand rather than pushing straight for a while like some other approach discs might. If bought in more baseline plastics (300 or 300 soft) it will start just as stable as it's premium counterparts but will want to grab the ground a lot more, reducing skips. It will also beat in faster than the premium plastics allowing it to eventually become that straight to stable approach disc that would compliment a premium plastic version fantastically. In your more premium plastics (400, 500, 750) it will be a great, very stable wind fighter. It'll hold it's stability for a long time giving you the confidence in knowing what it will do. The A2 is often listed as a speed 4 disc, though I'd be more inclined to nudge that up a bit. It definitely feels sharper and faster than a Zone or most other discs of that ilk. Not to say that it will fly farther than a Zone, you have to keep in mind that this thing wants to find the ground. So if you want it to get a little extra distance I recommend giving it more height or discing up to something a little faster.

We've often heard in interviews of numerous prodigy players referring to this disc as the most underrated disc in Prodigy's lineup, and we'd be inclined to agree. Do yourself a favor and try one out if you're looking for something similar to a Zone or just want to try new Prodigy Molds.
